Phew! We’ve got an early christmas gift for all of you retro junkies out there. Ultrasound moving images of our baby in utero: Ripple Dot Zero!
Ripple Dot Zero is the flash game for all of you that glances back at the ‘88-’94 era of pixel perfect gaming with glazed eyes and a trembling lip. With paranormal equipment we are extracting the souls of fallen heroes like Sonic The Hedgehog, Strider, Alien Soldier, Ristar and Gunstar Heroes, collecting it in a little browser-flask. With our fingers covered in the ectoplasm from ghosts of the 16-bit era we’re in a slippery struggle to bring you what you’ve been missing since the end credits of Sonic & Knuckles.
Well anyway, here’s the video:
Has anyone ever made a 2D platformer with a protagonist that moves faster than Sonic? Seems like you’d need the screen to warp perspectively to show what’s coming up ahead (eg regular 1-to-1 pixel representation around the protagonist, but going “fisheye” to fit in a view of the 2D world not normally visible on the screen).
That would be a good hook for an indie platformer…
The game looks absolutely amazing!!
